Planning and Economic Transition

We are facing dire prospects for people and the planet earth.

I suggest the best way to transition to a peaceful, equitable, sustainable world is to reform financial systems and to implement an ecological economic plan that is locally based and promotes inter-community, inter-regional, and world-wide cooperation.  read more »

Welcome to the November 2008 edition of Spirit of Freedom. Literally as we
go to print news is coming in that the American ELF prisoner, Daniel
McGowan, is being transferred to yet another prison. Constantly moving is

Inmates in Greek prisons refusing meals to protest overcrowding

By The Associated Press Nov. 3, 2008

ATHENS, Greece - Thousands of inmates in Greek jails are refusing prison meals to protest overcrowding.

A prison rights group says more than half of the prisoners at 21 of the
country's 24 penitentiaries are refusing meals. The protest started
Monday to demand better detention conditions and less stringent rules
on early release.

Inmates are still eating food brought by their relatives. But,
Ioanna Drosou, a spokeswoman for Initiative for Prisoners' Rights, says
some prisoners are planning to launch full hunger strikes in the next
few days.

Drosou says some 13,000 prisoners are crammed into jails built for 7,500, with a further 5,000 in police detention cells.  read more »
