This week, the village Jayyous which was one of the first to involve with the joint struggle against the separation fence 2002, resumed (Sunday and Friday). Ni'ilin was intense too (Thursday and Friday). Tuesday we participated in a demo against the Gaza closer with the coalition of the radical left, in front of the war ministry compound in Tel Aviv. One of us was brutalized and two others spend the night in jail for disrespecting police power.  read more »

Bedouin kidnap 25 police in Sinai protest

EL-ARISH, Egypt (AFP) – Armed Bedouin tribesmen on Tuesday kidnapped a truckload of 25 Egyptian policemen in northern Sinai in protest at the killing of one of their number, a security official said.

The police truck was heading for a crossing point on the Israeli border when "it was stopped by three pick-up trucks with armed Bedouin on board," the official said, requesting anonymity.

"The Bedouin took 25 policemen to an unknown destination," the official said, adding that he thought the kidnapping was connected to the police killing on Monday of a Bedouin tribesman who was reportedly smuggling

US embassy shut as Syrians protest over deadly raid

DAMASCUS (AFP) – The US embassy in Syria shut its doors on Thursday as thousands marched through Damascus to protest at a deadly American raid on a village near the Iraqi border that Syria branded a barbaric act.

Security was boosted around the area housing the US embassy, which
decided to close because of the potential threat of violence, although
demonstrators stayed away from the mission.  read more »

Israeli troops have shot dead a 12-year-old Palestinian boy during a protest against Israel's barrier in the occupied West Bank, medics say.

The Israeli military said it was investigating what had happened.

It happened at Nilin village, west of Ramallah, where peace activists say Israel is taking 25 hectares of land from villagers to build the barrier.  read more »

Five wounded in Yemen protest

SANAA (AFP) — Five people, including a young boy, were wounded in southern Yemen on Tuesday when police fired on demonstrators demanding the release of more than 80 people arrested during previous protests, witnesses said.

Dozens of demonstrators were also detained during the new protest, in Radfan in southern Lahij province, the witnesses told AFP.

Police fired live bullets and tear gas to disperse the march, they said.  read more »

Hundreds Protest At Israeli Wall Near West Bank Village

NILIN, West Bank (AFP)--Hundreds of Palestinians, Israelis, and international activists gathered outside the occupied West Bank village of Nilin on Sunday to protest against the extension of Israel's separation wall.

At least three people were wounded by rubber bullets and another eight were treated for tear gas inhalation when Israeli troops dispersed the protest, the organisers said.

The villagers say they mobilized last month when the Israeli army told them it would confiscate some 2,500 dunams (620 acres) of land for the separation wall, which Israel insists is necessary to prevent attacks from the territory.  read more »
