LPFM Leadership Day - February 25, 26 - Washington DC
This can serve as your formal invitation to what the Prometheus Radio Project is billing as an "LPFM Leadership Day". We're inviting everyone from emergency operations center managers to youth organizers to Public Access TV stations, as well as low power FM stations and supporters we work with more regularly.
This LPFM Leadership Day will occur February 25-26 (Monday and Tuesday) in Washington, DC. We'll gear up with workshops (plan on a 1pm start) on Monday afternoon, on the issues behind community radio and how to do Capitol Hill visits, followed by a fun meet & greet dinner Monday night.
Tuesday will feature a lunchtime Hill briefing with legislators and
congressional aides/staffers, as well as a morning visit to the FCC to meet with Media Bureau staff, if you're interested. We will also arrange
afternoon meetings with your representatives in the Senate and House--or their staffers--about LPFM. In your personal meetings with your Congressman/woman or Hill staffers, you will have an opportunity to speak to many issues about accountable community media, why you want a community radio station/want to protect the one that is on the air in your town, and other issues that are on the table for you and the movement for local media in your area.
Prometheus is organizing this event on basically no budget, so we are hoping that most folks can bring themselves to Washington, DC, or work with allies to get funding. Please contact us if that's a problem, and we'll find a way to get you to DC!

(How's it going Media Islanders?! I was a former volunteer and intern back around 2003 and now I'm with Prometheus in Philly. The website looks great btw!)
