A Generation of Consolidation
Reel Grrls, a Seattle-based non-profit media literacy and filmmaking program for teenage girls, announces the online release of their latest film.
"A Generation of Consolidation," produced by teen filmmakers Sami Muilenburg and Brooke Noel, is a short documentary exploring the impact of media consolidation on news content and how this affects youth, both as viewers and media makers. The film focuses on the 2008 Seattle FCC hearing on Media Ownership, and features Reclaim the Media co-founder Jonathan Lawson, author Anne Elizabeth Moore, University of Washington Professor Lance Bennett, and the perspectives of numerous young people.
