Submitted by rick on Wed, 01/30/2008 - 05:09. Come See: UN POQUITO DE TANTA VERDAD (a little bit of so much truth)
This is a great documentary about the events in Oaxaca Mexico in the summer of 2006. It focuses on the role of community radio in coordinating the mobilizations of the people. In doing so it also gives a flavor of the spirit of the people in this largely indigenous region of Mexico. THIS IS A FREE EVENT! We think people should see it if they haven't.

Getting a Grip - Plastic Poison
Submitted by rick on Sun, 01/20/2008 - 05:00.by Michael I. Niman
Remember when plastic used to break? You know, really break, as in shatter. Now it kind of bounces. The difference is that much of our modern plastic is vitamin-fortified with additives called phthalates. Phthalates protect plastic by making it more malleable, but a growing number of scientific studies suggest that while protecting plastic, certain phthalates are poisoning people. More specifically, they are carcinogens, they’re potentially toxic to our livers and kidneys, and juvenile exposure in males may lower lifelong testosterone levels, physiologically feminizing men while lowering their sperm counts. But hey, that’s some fine plastic we’ve got there. read more »

Submitted by rick on Wed, 01/09/2008 - 08:14.Jammers and creatives,
Today is our big moment in court. Ever since the first issue of
Adbusters was published seventeen years ago we've been fighting to
break the corporate monopoly on access to the airwaves. After
countless delays, and over $100,000 spent on legal fees, we've
arrived at a critical juncture in the case. At issue is our
freedom of speech on the most powerful social communications
medium of our time, television.
Below is a copy of our press release as well as a sneak preview of
an article that will appear in the upcoming issue of Adbusters (on
newsstands February 18th). Please give us your support by getting
the word out there. read more »

They cleaned the clothes for their sons, brothers, and husbands who went to work in the mines. A lot of the time people were doing double shifts at the mine sites, so people would come home after 16 hours of work and literally take their coats off and fall asleep, not change their clothing or anything."
